After a lengthy interview process, Navasota ISD board of trustees approved the hire of new principals for John C. Webb Elementary and High Point Elementary at Monday’s special meeting.

Emily Nichols will be the new principal at John C. Webb and John Bathke the principal at Highpoint Elementary.

Emily Nichols

Nichols received her bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University- Commerce and her master’s in education from Lamar University. She has been in education for twenty-years. She recently served as an administrator for Little River Academy Independent School District and served as principal for five-years at Academy Elementary.

During her years of public education Nichols has coached at the junior high level and served as head basketball and track coach at the varsity level.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Navasota family,” said Nichols. “I look forward to serving the Navasota community.”

Nichols will be joined in Navasota by her husband Mike who will also teach and coach. Nichols is a mother of five-children, Zachary who is head baseball coach at Navasota, Jake who is attending college, Aaron who is a high school sophomore already enrolled in Navasota, Gracie and Hunter.

Nichols will replace current Webb principal Todd Nesloney who announced his resignation earlier this year.

John Bathke

Bathke will take over as principal at High Point Elementary in Stoneham replacing Melissa Boenker.

He has been an educator for 16-years and has spent time in various grade levels. He’s a graduate of Rim of the World High School in California.

Bathke obtained his bachelor’s degree in early education from Baylor University and his master’s in administration and supervision from the University of Houston.

John and his wife Genesis have a daughter and son, Evelyn and Jack.

Roof Repairs

The bids are in and several buildings across Navasota ISD will undergo roof repairs as a result of insurance claims from hail damage.

Big Bear roofing out of Waco will perform the repairs at John C. Webb Elementary, High Point Elementary, and on the modular buildings at the high school housing science and special education.

Approximately 10,720 square feet of roofing will be replaced at John C. Webb for a cost of $49,000. High Point Elementary has approximately 13,150 square feet of roofing to be repaired for $55,196. The high school science building is 1,710 square feet and special education building 1,930 square feet. The combined cost for those two buildings is $18,000.

According to Navasota ISD Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Dr. Ronnie Gonzalez none of the buildings are currently leaking. The roof replacement will come with a 20-year warranty.

The roofs of the bathrooms at Brule Field will have its shingle roof replaced. That project will be done by America’s Choice Roofing.
