Ms. Latoya Taylor was named principal of the NELC campus during the April 23 School Board meeting, by the NISD Board of Trustees. She will serve as principal for the W. B. Bizzell Academy, as well as the Discipline Alternative Education Program (DAEP) also at the Navasota Education Learning Campus.

Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts, History degree from Prairie View A&M University. She received her Masters in Education Administration in 2015 from Lamar University. Taylor began her educational career at Waco ISD in 2011 as an ISS aid. Later in 2011, she became a U.S. History Teacher and coach at Waco High School. In 2012, she moved to Austin ISD and taught Special Education and completed her principal internship at Travis High School. In 2016, Taylor made a transition to the middle school level where she became the Social Behavior Skills teacher, using an individualized teaching approach to assist special education students to improve their academic and behavioral performance. During this time, she was also a campus behavior support for students in the behavior RTI process. Most recently, Taylor served as assistant principal at Plum Creek Elementary in Lockhart ISD, for the past three years.

Taylor brings with her a proven track record of meeting high academic standards, reducing behavior incidents, and developing strong personal relationships with students, teachers and the community. She has experience with serving students from the elementary to high school level. Most of her time in education has been spent teaching, coaching, and mentoring high school and middle school students. Taylor has a personal goal to see the success of all students, regardless of their needs.

“We stand in a very defining and historical time in education right now,” said Taylor. “Students, staff, and the community all have needs that no one in education is accustomed to due to historical changes and circumstances. However, those needs must be met. I feel so humbled to receive the opportunity to serve the students, staff, and community of Navasota ISD. All students matter in every aspect of education. To ensure the success of all students, it is my duty as an educational servant to put forth my best efforts in providing quality educational leadership to all that I serve. As a former at-risk student, myself, I take a personal stance on providing the necessary needs and services to help all students succeed not only in school, but also in life.”

“We are very excited to add Ms. Taylor to our team and Navasota ISD family,” stated Navasota ISD Superintindent Dr. Stu Musick. “Her talents, strengths, and experience will be a great addition and asset to our staff, our students, and our Navasota ISD community.”
