The Navasota Noon Lions Club has many projects that they are proud to support, one of those is the Grimes County Mobile Food Pantry.

The second Thursday of every month, the Brazos Valley Food Bank sends a truck to the Grimes County Fairgrounds where they are met with a team of Lions and other devoted volunteers. As the food is emptied from the truck, all hands are on deck setting the food on tables, bagging produce and any other jobs that need to be completed before opening the doors to families in need.

Families then take a shopping cart and “go shopping” picking out the food and other items that they would like. The Lions said they are also very fortunate to have several trustees from the local county prison help families load their food into their vehicles.

The Navasota Noon Lions Club also supports the Anderson Food Pantry. Their food pantry is open the first Thursday in the morning and then again in the evening. Lions and other volunteers help load their food bags Wednesday evening before the pantry opens the following morning.

Both pantries can always use volunteers. It is the kind of service that is near and dear to the hearts of Lions hearts and they know that whoever helps out families will feel the same way.

If you are interested in finding out more information about the Navasota Noon Lions Club, you can join one of the regularly scheduled meetings the first Tuesday monthly at noon or the third Tuesday at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Navasota, 301 Church Street.
