COLLEGE STATION – A Navasota man crashed into a vehicle at Academy Sports and Outdoors in College Station landing him in jail on a DWI charge.
According to College Station Police, James Shiflett, 57, of Navasota, was stopped in south College Station and displayed multiple signs of intoxication and was uncooperative.
A witness of the crash in the Academy parking lot told officers that she followed the suspect onto Texas State Highway 6 and witnessed him nearly strike four additional vehicles and a concrete divider in the roadway.
Officers found an open bottle of vodka in Shiflett’s truck. A search of the vehicle also uncovered a loaded Beretta 9mm semi-automatic handgun from the center console of the vehicle.
Shiflett was booked into the Brazos County Jail charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
He was released from jail Sunday, April 4, after posting a $7,000 bail.
