Grimes County Relay for Life is hosting its annual Walk for a Cause event Friday, Apr. 8, from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. at Navasota City Hall.
A Walk for a Cause raises money, but more importantly celebrates those that have fought cancer, are fighting cancer and remembering loved ones lost to cancer.
Traditionally, cancer survivors followed by caretakers walk the first two laps of Relay for Life. All survivors and caretakers are asked to meet at the front door to City Hall at 6:15 p.m. to prepare for the first two laps.
There will also be a Luminaria Ceremony. Luminaria bags may be purchased in honor or memory of a family member or friend that battled or is in the midst of battling cancer. Bags are $5 each and may be bought before Apr. 3. They may be bought the day of the event until 8 p.m. The Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 9:15 p.m. Email Kay Harris, kayharris58@ gmail.com or Trisha Harris, email@example.com.
McAlpine Street in front of City Hall will be blocked off for the event beginning at 5 p.m. There will be games, a raffle and food including: Frito pies, nachos, street corn, sausage on a stick, Cajun pasta, baked goods and more.
Bring the family out to enjoy this great event
