The Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) held a Regular meeting Thursday, Oct. 24, and conducted a rezoning workshop to discuss five properties in the Airport Growth Center and two properties neighboring the Industrial Park.

Five properties are in, or adjacent to, the River Haven subdivision on W. Washington Avenue/SH 105 West. The recommended zoning was R-1C, Single Dwelling Units for four properties and R-3, Multi-Dwelling units, for property No. 5. The owner of property No. 5 was present and had the opportunity to ask questions.

Since only a portion of the River Haven subdivision is in the city limits, Community Development Director Lupe Diosdado will reconfirm the boundaries before scheduling a public hearing.

The zoning recommendation for the two properties in the Industrial Park area northwest of S. LaSalle and FM 379 was M-1, Light Industrial.

Before adjourning, commissioners approved the Minutes of the Oct. 10 meeting.

Commissioners present were Dia Copeland, James Harris, chairman Randy Peters, Patty Tokoly, Dr. John Walla and new board member Todd Wisner. Carolyn Katkoski was absent.

Community Development Director Lupe Diosdado represented the City of Navasota and Bernie Gessner was present as city council liaison.

P&Z meets the second and fourth Thursday at 6 p.m. in city council chambers at 200 E. McAlpine Street. The schedule for city council, board and commission meetings is available at www.navasotatx.gov/events.
