ANDERSON- Judge Donald Kraemer handed out unlucky five-year sentences to five men in the 12th Judicial District Court in Anderson Monday, Sept. 30.

Kraemer began his five-year sentencing trend with the revoking of probation for John Cruz who was convicted of stealing nearly $40,000 from the Grimes County Fair Association.

Tommy Lee Peavey plead guilty to Felony Driving While Intoxicated. Peavy was stopped by Navasota Police Department after Lt. Michael Mize observed him speeding northbound on Spur 515.

Officer Holt Ledyard initiated the traffic stop and observed Peavy exhibiting signs of intoxication. Ledyard requested a blood sample and Peavy consented to having his blood drawn. The defendant was taken to CHI Grimes St. Joseph in Navasota and lab results showed Peavy’s blood to contain 0.273 grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. The sample was more than three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Peavey was sentenced to five years in prison.

After witnessing the sentencing issued by Kraemer to Cruz and Peavey, the other two defendants, Jeffrey Cordova and Efran Villegas chose to plead true to the allegations of their motion to revoke/ adjudicate rather than have a hearing.

Cordova was sentenced to five-years in TDCJ-ID. He was previously convicted of Manufacturing/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG1. In that initial sentencing Sept. 9, 2015, Cordova received 10-years deferred adjudication.

Villegas also received five-years in TDCJ-ID for violating his probation. On May 5, 2015, Villegas plead guilty to Manufacture/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to 10-years deferred adjudication.

Thomas Mazur was scheduled to have his hearing for a motion to revoke for State Jail Felony Theft. Mazur was allowed to leave the court to obtain funds to pay off his restitution but failed to return. Kreamer issued a warrant for his arrest.
