CARLOS — Nathan Monk, 65, of Houston, has been identified as the motorcyclist pronounced deceased in a collision with a tractor-trailer Wednesday, April 10, in Carlos.

According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Jimmy Morgan, DPS responded to reports of a motorcycle collision on the westbound feeder of State Highway 30 in Carlos at 5:30 p.m. Initial reports show Monk, the driver of a 2003 BMW motorcycle, was attempting to make a U-turn when he was struck by a 2003 Freightliner hauling a load of pallets. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Gary Vela of Beeville, didn’t suffer any injuries, but Monk was pronounced deceased at the scene.
