Gertrude Mentlewski, 87, of Anderson, died Tuesday morning, June 18, 2019, at Grace Personal Care Home in Spring.

A gathering of family and friends was held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home. A parish rosary followed at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating her life took place 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson with Rev. Elias Lopez as the celebrant. The rite of committal followed in St. Stanislaus Church Cemetery.

Gertrude was born June 4, 1932 in Anderson to Charlie and Sallie Shibest Mentlewski. She grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School. Gertrude attended business school and had a long career as an executive assistant with Shell Oil in Houston. Shortly after her retirement in 1997 she returned to Anderson. She enjoyed her flower gardens, her trips to the casinos as well as traveling to small towns “window shopping” for antiques. She loved spending time with all her nieces and nephews and extended family. Gertrude was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Gertrude was preceded in death by brothers, Arch, John and Tony Mentlewski and a sister, Martha Sechelski, as well as her parents.

Survivors include her brother, Charlie Mentlewski, Jr. of Anderson; nieces and nephews, Elaine Welch and husband Jim, Charlie Mentlewski, Brenda Nesbit and husband Brad, Carolyn Yorek, Anne Mentlewski and Jeffrey Mentlewski and wife Shetal as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
