Hugh Sargent Jr., 66, was born to the late Hugh Sargent Sr. and Eva Williams Sargent.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with True Vine Baptist Church family in Navasota. He attended George Washington Carver High School in Navasota. Hugh met and married the love of his life his loving wife, Roxie Robinson, Aug. 21, 1971, and to that union they were blessed with five beautiful children. Hugh enjoyed cooking, fishing and hunting.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two brothers, Buster and Sylvester; his sister Addie Mitchell; a nephew, Otis; aunts; uncles; mother and father-in-law; and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of 47 years, Roxie; three daughters, Meisha (Ray) and Niquita (John), both of Navasota and Shandre (Ricky) of Frisco; two sons, Hugh III and Marcus (LaKeitcha) of Navasota; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Marilyn, Carolyn, Janice and Ramona (Ray); six brothers, Bobby, Columbus, Robert (Tammy), Kenneth, the Rev. Wilbert (Dorothy) and the Rev. Donald (Dana) Sargent ; his special friend, Glenn Jolivette; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held at noon Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at True Vine Baptist Church in Navasota. The Rev Charlie Hall was the pastor.
