Minnie Mary Canatella Crouch, 77, of Navasota, died Friday afternoon, June 21, 2019, at Navasota Nursing and Rehabilitation.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 9677 Hwy 6, in Navasota. A vigil service and parish rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass celebrating Minnie’s life will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Christ Our Light Catholic Church with Rev. Elias Lopez as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in Wheat Cemetery in Milli-can.

Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Szymczak, Clifford Szymczak, Patrick Szymczak, Timothy Szymczak, Matthew Canatella and Ronald Podraza. Named as honorary pallbearers are Holle Marie Canatella, PhD, Gregory Peek, Jasper Charles Peek and Robert Walker.

Minnie was born December 26, 1941 in Navasota to Gus and Josephine Palasota Canatella. She grew up in Navasota and graduated from Navasota High School in 1960. She later began a 30-year career with Navasota Phone Company and retired from what is now Century Link in 1990. A lifelong member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church, she was involved in many parish activities. On the night of her celebration of retirement, Frank Crouch proposed to her and they were married March 9, 1991. During her retirement, she and a group of her friends began the “Road Runners” and they loved traveling the highways. She was a member of the Millican Volunteer Fire Department and participated in many of the events in and around Millican. Minnie was a proud graduate of the Brazos County Sheriff Department’s Citizen Academy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughter Cassidy. She loved watching her play little league and her participating in rodeos.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Ronald Anthony Canatella.

Survivors include her husband Frank of Navasota; granddaughter Cassidy Marie Canatella of Anderson; brother, Charlie Canatella and wife Lou Ann of Washington; sister, Mary Jo Kennedy and husband James of Anderson and Houston; nieces, Holle Marie Canatella, PhD and husband Gregory Peek; nephews, Frank, Matthew Canatella, Frank, Clifford, Patrick and Timothy Szymczak, along with numerous other extended family members and a great number of friends.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to Hospice Brazos Valley-Brenham, 302 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham, TX 77833 or the Wheat Cemetery Association, PO Box 538, Millican, TX 77866-0538.
