    SCAMARDO

Peter Luke Scamardo 92, passed away June 7, 2019.

Peter was born June 20, 1926 in Steele Store, Texas to Luke Peter and Mary (Varisco) Scamardo. Growing up, his father was a cotton farmer while his mother took care of the home and children. Life changed in 1935 when the family migrated from sharecropping to a more permanent homestead. Peter enjoyed playing football for Hearne High School until an injury ended that adventure. After graduating, he went on to be in the Corps of Cadets for Texas A&M, spending some time serving as second lieutenant in artillery, preparing for the invasion of Japan. He graduated Texas A&M in 1947.

Peter met his future bride at a wedding in the summer of 1947. He and Camella were blessed with four children and over 70 years of marriage. He was devoted to his wife and his Catholic faith. Although there were not a lot of family vacations, only taking trips for their honeymoon and family weddings, the family always came together for huge family meals.

After receiving his degree in petroleum engineering, Peter took over the farm for his father and raised cotton and cattle for 65 years. A hard worker, he put others before himself, always taking care of family. An Aggie through and through, in his free time Peter enjoyed watching Aggie football and basketball. He also liked westerns.

Peter leaves behind his beloved wife Camella Scamardo, his son Dr. Luke Peter Scamardo II and his wife Susan, his son Dr. Joseph G. Scamardo, his daughter Marilyn Scamardo, his son Robert Scamardo, his grandchildren Tara Marie Gaines and her husband Rodney, Luke Pete Scamardo III and his wife Melani, Bryan Alexander Scamardo and his wife Jennifer, Courtney Suzanne Pierce and her husband Ian, Kenna Anne Scamardo, Micah Jo Scamardo, Rebecca Lynne Scamardo, Seraiah Leigh Scamardo, Robert Lyon and his wife Desi, Monica Schulz, Margaret Mary Scamardo, Peter Luke Scamardo II, and Elizabeth Camille Scamardo, his great grandchildren Luke Pete Scamardo IV, Ziva Gowrey Scamardo, Georgianna Melani Scamardo, Berlin Danielle Scamardo, Rome Jackson Scamardo, and Arwyn Lyon, his brother Anthony L. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Marie Beard.
