On Monday, July 13, 2020, Phyllis Wheatfall Cobb – a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend – passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 55. Phyllis was born June 5, 1965 in Navasota, TX to the late Bennie Jewel Sneed Sr. and Ruby Jewel Wheatfall-Sneed.

Phyllis attended Navasota public schools and graduated in the top ten percent of the class of 1983. She went on to attend Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and graduated with a degree in Nursing from Baptist System School of Nursing in Little Rock, AR. Phyllis worked as a Registered Nurse for over 33 years. Nursing was both her passion and her calling. Phyllis was employed with the Kindred Hospital System at the time of her passing.

At an early age, Phyllis joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.E. Deece. After Phyllis relocated to Pflugerville, she united with Sweet Home Baptist Church. Phyllis was united in marriage with Hugh Wilson and to this union her only son was born – Hugh LeAndrew Wilson.

Phyllis resided in Rosemount, CA for ten years before coming back to Texas where she resided in Pflugerville for over 28 years. She married Lover Ray Cobb who remained her close friend until her death. Phyllis loved “family” and was always traveling to spend time with her beloved from Dallas to Navasota to Houston.

One of the greatest joys Phyllis had in life was spending time with her beloved granddaughter Lena. Anyone that knew Phyllis knew she had a passion for shopping, and she loved hosting and entertaining in her home. Phyllis had a take charge attitude, and you could always count on her to get-it-done.

Waiting at Heaven’s Gates for Phyllis are her father Bennie Jewel Sneed, Sr.; baby brother, Bennie Jewel Sneed, Jr.; grandparents, Josephine and Allen Sneed, Jr., LeAndrew Wheatfall and Angelina McNeil-Andrews.

Phyllis leaves to celebrate a life well lived, her only son Hugh LeAndrew Wilson of Pflugerville, TX; mother, Ruby Jewel Sneed of Navasota; granddaughter Lena Wilson; sisters, Angelina Sneed of Navasota , Ruby Jewel Sneed of Navasota and Alice (Mitchell) Sneed Stubblefield of Cedar Hill, TX; aunt Leona Taylor of Fort Worth, TX; nieces, Kristi Harris, Yolanda Harris, Chastity Sneed; nephews, Marquis Stubblefield, Marquinton Stubblefield and Bennie Jewel Sneed; and a host of great nieces, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to her “favorite” cousin Josie Harrison, baby cousin Johnny Barger and her best friend Albert Jean Flowers for being by Phyllis’ side until the end.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Home and Chapel of Brenham, TX.
