Robert Owen Bond passed away on March 11, 2022 at 62 years old, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Rob was born June 6, 1959 at the hospital in Navasota to Mary Beth and James Bond. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Navasota by Pastor Robin Guess. Robert graduated from Navasota High School in 1977 and later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Texas A&M University in 1981.

Later that year, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lohmeyer, on July 25, 1981. He moved to San Antonio and began working for Clayton Williams as a gas buyer. In 1986 Robert moved to Houston and continued his oil and gas career at Tenneco and later moved to Southern Union, which sold to Energy Transfer. Then in 2014 he and several friends started their own company, Penntex Midstream, which was sold to Energy Transfer. Then in 2018 they acquired Midcoast Energy, which is still operating today. Robert had a long and successful career of 35 years in the natural gas business and was respected and admired by all that worked with him.

Rob was a member of Jersey Village Baptist Church and served there for many years. He also served on the board of Small Steps Nurturing Center, which benefited children of the 5th Ward. Robert was an active member of the Houston Rodeo volunteering on the Breeder Greeters committee for 10 years. He was a devoted Texas A&M Former Student and cheered on the Aggies at almost every home football game. Robert loved traveling the world, fine dining, snow skiing, playing golf and fly fishing at the river. You could always find him playing 42 dominos or riding motorcycles with his best buddies. Robert and his wife, Nancy, cherished spending time together at their casita on the Guadalupe River and enjoying their longtime family farm in Washington on the Brazos.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, James B. Bond.

Rob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Bond; his mother, Mary Beth Bond; children, Jill Nesloney and husband Ryan; Eric Bond and wife Jarlene; brothers, Russell Bond and wife Brenda; Randall Bond and wife Laura and his sister Beth Schmid and husband Rob; grandchildren, Nolan and Lexi Nesloney and soon to be born, Owen Bond.

Pallbearers will include Gary Bayer, Chris Koh, Glen Love, Mike Moran, John Preble, Terry Reilly, Don Sinclair, Tommy Stone, Mark Ward, and Danny Weaver.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Klein Funeral Home CyFair Northwest at 9717 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77065. A Celebration of Life will begin 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2022, at Friedens Church of Washington at 20301 FM 1155 E, Washington, TX 77880 with a graveside service to follow. Reception will follow at the Friedens Activity Center.
