Colton Boullion had a rushing and receiving touchdown in the win and Adam Crenshaw caught a touchdown pass. Owls – It was a historic night for senior running back Zacarrius Haynes. He dismantled the Leon Cougars with 400 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Defensively Landon Stem recorded 13 tackles two of which were for a loss.

Last Meeting:

Owls 6, Bulldogs 0; It was a Dog-Owl fight in Iola with Zacarrius Haynes scoring the dagger that sealed the game, a 2-yard touchdown run. The touchdown was set up by Cole Werner with 22 yards rushing on the drive.

Series Record:

Iola leads the series 4-1. 2018: Owls 6, Iola 0; 2017: Iola 35, Owls 0; 2016: Iola 27, Owls 20; 2015: Iola 27, Owls 22; 2014: Inclement weather, game canceled with the Owls leading 12-6; 2012: Iola 38, Owls 14;

2019:

Iola has responded to new coach Kerry Bamburg and has continued its winning tradition. Blake Driver has settled into his role at quarterback and is proving to be a dual threat through the air and on the ground. He has 341 passing yards in two game and three passing touchdowns. Driver has rushed for 179 yards and three touchdowns. His favorite target has been Andrew Crenshaw who has seven catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns.

Anderson-Shiro answered any questions there may have been concerning the offensive line. Zacarrius Haynes capitalized on the great play of his big guys opening holes as he rushed for 400 yards and six touchdowns. Head Coach Brad Hodges has the Owls trending upward after notching his first win last season.

Key Matchup:

The key to this game will be limiting the big play. Haynes has shown that he is no stranger to big games. He rushed for over 1,200 yards in 2018 and is sure to demolish that total after rushing for 400 yards last week. Blake Driver is at the wheel of the Bulldog offense and can take over a game seemingly single-handed. The defense that can contain the big playmaker each team offers will win this game. It should be one that isn’t decided until the fourth quarter.
