Dominant pitching leads Rattlers to playoffs

Navasota leaned on a pair of great pitching performances to punch its ticket into the 2019, 4A baseball playoffs under first year head coach Zack Nichols, defeating Smithville 5-2, for the final playoff spot.

The Rattlers begin Bi-district against Fulshear at Klein Cain

Kaleb Wisnoski dominated the Tigers with a complete game pitching performance striking out six.

Navasota’s bat heated up in the first-inning. Wisnoski helped his cause with a triple. Dylan Bonnain and Anthony Pimentel each had RBI singles.

Logan Vela added a run in the second-inning scoring on a passed ball. In the third Vela hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield plating Cody High School, Wednesday, May 1, at 7 p.m. Game two will be the same time and place on Friday, and game three if needed will take place Saturday at 1 p.m.

Navasota 5, Smithville 2;

GIDDINGS- Navasota forced a play-in game against Smithville for the final playoff spot in District 26-4A, with a win over La Grange in the final game of district.

Risner.

Navasota capped its scoring on Bonnain’s second RBI single, this time knocking in John Lee.

LA GRANGE- Bonnain and the Rattlers shut-out La Grange in the final game of district to force the one-game play-in with Smithville.

Bonnain executed the game plan perfectly in the no-hit, complete-game performance. He fanned nine-batters on the night.

Navasota scored on an RBI single by Risner in the first-inning. Lee tacked on to the Rattler lead with his RBI single in the fifth.

The Big Blue collected hits in the game from Pimentel, Bonnain, Risner Lee and Thomas Robinson.

Tickets for the Bi-district round are $4 for adults and $2 for students. Navasota will be the visiting team.
