Lady Owls earn honors

The Anderson-Shiro Lady Owls volleyball team finished its season in in the Regional quarterfinals with a 3-0 loss to East Bernard.

The Lady Owls compiled 36 wins and seven losses including an undefeated District 23-3A championship. In the playoffs the Lady Owls won a Bi-District and Area champion - ship.

“As a coach you can’t ask for a better group of girls,” explained head coach Laura Korenek. On top of the team success, multiple players also earned individual accolades from their district.

Kyndal Bohnert was named Most Valuable Player in District 23-3A, Kyleigh Backhus was named Defensive MVP, Abby Ross-Setter of the Year and Haley Mason-Newcomer of the Year.

First Team All-District team members are Aiden Hackenberg and Sawyer Howell. Making the Second Team is Ahna Merrell.

Honorable Mention team members include Kenzie Nienstedt, Emily Daigle and Claye Sullivan.
