  • Legenda & Lanterns Carved in Stone

Enjoy a twilight/night-time walking tour, presented by the Navasota Theatre Alliance (a non-profit organization) in partnership with the City of Navasota. As you stroll through the historic Navasota Oakland Cemetery by lantern light, your guide will provide local history notes and meet living-history actors portraying folks, who are now resting in peace. But if it werenít for their grave markers, most of them would be forgotten by now. Only their tombstones tell us their names and vital statistics. But if we dig a little deeper, we find even more questions than answers. Examine the connection between two pioneering clergymen and also the biographical notes on one monument and how it's tied to very different people. Listen in on a chat with two German immigrants as they talk about about The Knight of Pythias. Learn about one of the first burials in the Hebrew Cemetery of Navasota and the story behind the monument for a young African-American women who died at age 20. This fun history tour and lesson is a great grown-up event. Self insect repellent, comfortable shoes, and bring a flashlight recommended.
