The Navasota High School Ag Mechanics Team had a successful weekend at the San Antonio Livestock Show earning four blue ribbons and a red ribbon. The students are gaining valuable skills in welding, record keeping and interviewing.

The Anderson-Shiro FFA officer team and chapter members visited the Anderson-Shiro Elementary campus to kick off FFA week Feb. 21. They greeted students at the car rider line then joined them at the morning assembly to share fun facts and ways students can get involved in FFA.

Former National Football League players, Keith Davis, of the New York Giants, and Jamar Reed, of the Seattle Seahawks, visited Anderson–Shiro Elementary Feb. 28. They presented an inspirational and motivational message to students, “No one is born a winner or a loser, but everyone is born a chooser!” They shared personal challenges and achievements throughout their lives. Their energetic and wholehearted message is, there is a champion within everyone, and they encourage students to achieve academic success through effort, and confidence in themselves and their unique gifts. Students had a chance to visit with and take photos with the former players.

Navasota went back in time Monday, March 4. Children and parents had a personal encounter with dinosaurs and Transformers at Arlan’s parking lot. With the purchase of a cookie Navasota families got to experience an interactive exhibit that was fun for everyone.
