Creeping along the ground with a square stem, the plant can be up to 16 inches long. It’s difficult to know the length until it’s ready to flower and growth becomes vertical. After flowering, the stems bend down, root at the nodes and resume horizontal growth.

Read moreThe monthly food pantry at Iola Missionary Baptist Church in Iola, Jan. 20, was certainly a success. There were 83 people including seven new people that attended. The food distributed will feed around 242 people. Food distributed included frozen meat, fresh vegetables and canned goods. Volunteers from Evergreen Baptist and other churches assisted with setup the day before and distribution the day of. The pantry is open the third Saturday of the month for anyone in need of a helping hand.

Read moreHopefully all of you made it through the first really cold spell of the season. It really got bad for a few days. Temperatures dropped to 17 degrees Jan. 16. Hope everyone that was able to, stayed home in a warm place. Hopefully that will be the last of the really bad weather. Some dumpsites were closed due to the weather. Some were also closed while some started late. Some people had to stay with others so they could stay warm.
