Grimes County Commissioners Court held a Special Meeting, Monday, Dec. 21, and approved an agreement with Blue Jay Solar but a Road and Bridge request for a temporary stipend resulting from staff changes failed. Commissioner David Dobyanski was absent from the meeting.
Read moreJanice Scheve, co-owner of the P.A. Smith Hotel in Navasota, was the guest speaker at the Two Rivers Heritage Foundation history mixer Dec. 15 at VFW Post 4006. Scheve stated that after three years of restoration, including all new electrical, plumbing, and floors, the hotel is within months of completion. The hotel is expected to open in late spring and will include a bakery and a southern cooking style restaurant – Red Board, two buildings south, all on Railroad Street facing the tracks.

Read moreChristopher Price is the newest black belt member of the Navasota KickStart Kids team. Price has been a member of the KickStart Kids program for four years. During testing he demonstrated all required skills to obtain a first-degree black belt. Skills include Martial Arts performance, self defense tactics and sparring. Price also wrote an essay titled “How Has Being a Member of KickStart Kids Benefitted My Life” - which discussed how the program has enhanced the values of Respect, Loyalty, Self-Discipline, Courage and Responsibility in his everyday life. Price has also developed an impressive Sport Karate including World, National, State and Regional Championships.
