4-H Pecan Sales

Grimes County 4-H has begun their pecan sale. There is an array of nuts that can be purchased from any 4-H member or by calling the Grimes County Extension Office, 936-873-3907. All orders must be placed by Oct. 8. Some of the varieties being sold are pecans, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, peanuts and trail mix. Don’t miss the opportunity to purchase them in time for seasonal baking.

A reminder we have received some needed rain in the area however a countywide burn ban that was reinstated at the Aug. 14 commissioners court is still in effect.

The Texas/Grimes County 4-H is a club for children in third through twelfth grade and offers programs for children in kindergarten through second grade. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year began Aug. 15.

The 4-H Club offers many programs that cater to all interests including but not limited to food, science, robotics, agriculture, livestock, photography, fashion design etc. The club is a great opportunity to make friends, learn new life skills and to be a better you. The Guardian Angels of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville is sponsoring a five-day, four-night trip to Biloxi and New Orleans Sept. 23 through 27. The price is $499 per person based on double occupancy. A deposit of $74 was due in May. Contact Nancy Schlottman, 936-597-8327.

The Place of Grace on CR 313 in the Blackberry Community is hosting bible study Thursday nights at 7 p.m. instead of Friday mornings. Please come out and be a part of God’s work.
