Charlie and Kathie Wendt celebrate 50 years
Iola VFW held a raffle recently to raise money. David Lilly was the winner of a gun. There were also two $100 gift cards won by Kenny Watson and Richard Grissett. Congratulations to all of them.
Charlie and Kathie Wendt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Iola Community Center with a full crowd of family members and friends present. Several people shared memories of the couple. It was certainly an enjoyable experience. May God bless them and give them many more years together.
Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Mary Sue Stedman Dudley who passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, following a short illness. Her services are pending. She was the widow of E.E. “Bugs” Dudley, who is buried in Evergreen Cemetery. That is where she will be buried as well. Do remember her family in your prayers.
There was no meeting of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593 this month due to the Christmas holiday. They will meet again at their lodge hall in North Zulch Jan. 18.
Christmas is almost here. Do hope that you have been good this year. God bless all of you and hope that next year will be even better.
There were 156 families that came to the Iola Food Pantry Saturday, Dec. 18. The pantry is open to all that need a helping hand. They are open the third Saturday of the month from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Iola Missionary Church fellowship hall.
Both local Masonic lodges will have their monthly meeting in January. The Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge will meet Monday, Jan. 3, at their lodge hall in Anderson. They will begin with a meal at 6 p.m. and the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.
Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 will meet Tuesday, Jan. 4, with a meal beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will follow. All Masons are welcome to attend.
Several family members of Calvin Lynn Lawson visited his grave in Evergreen Cemetery during the week. May God bless his memory and bless his family as well.
