The Christmas season is well upon us and lots of people have their Christmas trees up, their house decorated and their gifts bought. Sunday afternoon was the first time I had a chance to put the tree up. Our grandkids, Abby, Brooklyn, Luke and Colton came over to help decorate it. Now comes the task of finishing the Christmas shopping and getting everything in order. School will let out soon, families will be traveling out of town (thank goodness just under 35 miles is as far as I will be traveling) and for some, family gatherings have already begun. It always seems to be such a hectic and busy time preparing but when the time comes and your family is all together, the busy and hectic times are forgotten and enjoying family time is the best. Let’s not forget about all the good food and desserts we will be eating. Yum, yum. Our family wishes everyone a very, merry and blessed holiday season. Through it all though, we need to never forget “the reason for the season.”

The Anderson Holiday Fest was a success once again with everyone enjoying the evening listening (and some dancing) to the music provided by various bands such as Bri Bagwell, Jason Cassidy, Rick Trevino and one of my favorites, Johnny Lee. His music made me want to pull out the old “Urban Cowboy” movie, make some hot chocolate, stretch out on the couch and watch it again, and maybe again and again! I just haven’t had time to do that though. And the weather was picture perfect compared to last year’s very cold air that evening.

Happy birthday this week to Dec. 19- Carol DeBose and Audrey Bankston; Dec. 20- Scott Pasket, Daylen Wagner, Emily Sicinski and Mallory Busa; Dec. 21- Kelsie Eisenman, Brenley Poret, Marisa Bostelman and Danielle Willett, Dec. 22- Lovett Boggess, Stephen Schroeder, Stephanie Cole and Pam Beard; Dec. 24- my granddaughter Brooklyn Branch; Dec. 25- Linda Copley.

Kristin Renee Keally, daughter of Ken and Amy Keally, became the wife of Jackson Wesley Carrell, son of Steven and Julie Carrell Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Anderson Baptist Church. Pastor Kyle Childress performed the ceremony. The reception at the Lions Club Building in Navasota followed the ceremony. Jackson and Kristin are both graduates of Anderson-Shiro.

This past week has been a rough one for our family as my cousin Delores Posinski and husband Charles lost a grandson, Trey Barnett, at the age of 21. Trey’s parents are Jerry and Andrea Barnett of China Spring, TX near Waco. Our prayers are with this family as they go through this difficult time.
