Civic Club hears from Constable Schaper

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 will meet Monday, March 6, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meeting will begin with a meal at 6 p.m. Bedias Masonic Lodge will meet Tuesday, March 7, beginning with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. All members of the Masonic Lodge are invited to attend.

Daylight Saving Time is Sunday, March 12. Time will spring forward one hour. I wish they would just leave it alone.

Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593 held their monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 21, at their lodge hall in North Zulch. A good number of members and visitors attended. There was a visitor from Canada. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A variety of business was discussed and acted upon. 

Keith Civic Club held their monthly meeting at the Keith Community Center Thursday, Feb. 23, with a fair number of members and visitors attending. The covered dish meal featuring a variety of good eats was enjoyed by all. Grimes County Pct. 1 Constable Dale Schaper spoke at the meeting. Pct. 1 Deputy James Ellis accompanied Schaper.

Additional club business was discussed including the upcoming bake sale at Aurora on Saturday, April 8, at 9 a.m. Make sure you plan to attend. There will be another garage sale Saturday, April 22. Space will be available to rent outside for anyone wanting to have sell items. To rent a space call Mac, 979-820-0104 or Bob, 979-229-3956. Members also discussed a new sign for the Civic Club. More details will be released later.

Iola VFD’s annual BBQ Cookoff Fundraiser is March 17-18, at Iola Fire Station. There are lots of fun events planned to include a fried fish meal at 11 a.m. March 18. Other events include an auction with all sorts of baked goods and other items. Updates will be provided as the fundraiser approaches. Hope everyone will make plans to attend. Remember we need our fireman and all they do for us.
