Civic Club renovations beginning soon

Keith Civic Club held their monthly meeting at Keith Community Center Thursday, July 27, with a fair number attending. Instead of the usual covered dish meal, a delicious meal of homemade ice cream, a variety of sandwiches and other good eats were enjoyed by all. Visitors were Roy Castillo, his wife Kaylee and their son Owen. He is a worker with a company that is going to do some work on the inside of the building. The work will begin soon.

Area residents were shocked to learn of the death of Danny Mallett who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Iola Thursday, July 27. He was born Aug. 24, 1956 to George and Nellie Merle Bean Mallett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Mallett, who died Sept. 27, 2019 and by his parents. He is survived by two children and a grandchild. There was a private burial at Cross Cemetery and a public memorial service at Bedias Baptist Church Aug. 5. Do remember his family in your prayers.

There was a breakfast held at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, July 30, with a large group of church members and others in attendance. All sort of good food was enjoyed by all. Following the morning service communion was served.

Around 37 people attended church game night at the home of Chip and Trish Mosier July 27. Lots of good food and games were enjoyed. Games continued for several hours. Several people that had missed previously attended and, but others were absent.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651 held their monthly meeting at their lodge hall Aug. 1, with a good number of members and visitors present. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. There was a special presentation before the meeting began. I, John Ray Maxwell, received my 50-year Masonic pin and certificate from the Grand Lodge of Texas. Present for the pinning was my special cousin, son Peyton and his grandmother, Connie Francis. In other business the lodge gave money to Iola and Madisonville schools for supplies.

Eugene Richards, Angela Topping; Aug. 12 – James Truitt Stuckey Jr., Jerry Risner. Do hope your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to the following: Wade and Bonnie Farmer Duke, married Aug. 9, 1986; Tony and Amy Salvato Compian, married Aug. 10, 2022; Justin and Fallon Vaughn Garcis Mar, married Aug. 11, 2019; Bro. Joe and Gail Saffle, married Aug. 12. Join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
