Evergreen Baptist Church Fall Fest Oct. 27

Iola Hay Day was enjoyed by all Saturday, Oct. 9. The day started at 9 a.m. and lasted well into the afternoon. There were hundreds of people in town with many booths selling a variety of items. The parade was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Vivian McDougald, who turned 101 on Oct. 11, was the Grand Marshal. She rode in the lead car and waved to everyone. She is still in good health and has a sound mind. May God bless her and grant her many more years.

The Iola Homecoming Football game was held Friday, Oct. 8, against Bartlett. The game went well and Iola 20-12. Homecoming King was Clayton Stafford and Homecoming Queen was Emmora Cooper. May God bless both of them.

Sunday, Oct. 10, was pastor appreciation day. Evergreen Baptist Church Pastor, Rev. Jeff Morgan was honored for his many years of service. The church presented him with a gift card to a local eatery in Bryan for him and his wife. Hope they enjoy themselves.

Evergreen Baptist Church will have their fall fest Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This event is for the entire family. There will be a meal, carnival games, prizes, Face Painting, music and of course lots of tasty treats. All are invited to attend.

The Family Sowell of Tennessee will have a concert at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, Oct. 31. All are invited to attend. Lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall.

The monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club will be held at the Keith Community Center Thursday, Oct. 28. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by their business meeting. Members are expected, and visitors are always welcome. Come out and visit with your friends and neighbors.

Early voting for the constitutional amendments for Grimes County began Monday, Oct. 18, and will go until Friday, Oct. 29. For more information call 936-873-4422. The Keith Community Center will be open on election day, Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. Do your civic duty and vote. Other polling locations will also be available. Next year there will be all sorts of people running for office. Keep your eye open and vote for the right person. Hope to see you there.

The diversion crew has been mowing grass at the Keith Community Center and other places for some time now. Thanks to the county for providing this much-needed service.
