Thursday, June 2, was graduation day for W.B. Bizzell Academy, in Navasota. But Bedias resident, Anthony Williams, was only able to attend in sprit. We must continue to support our neighbors and continue to press for the diligent prosecution of those responsible for Anthony’s killing, last October in Bedias.

First Home Improvement (the Bedias feed store), is sponsoring a Farmer’s Market the second Saturday, beginning June 11 through August 13, 8 a.m. until noon, featuring fresh produce, eggs, and much more. For more information call 936-395-6902 or drop by the store. www.facebook.com/ FirstHomeImprovement.

Bedias Civic Club is becoming quite active again with first Thursday potlucks, a Fourth of July celebration, and now monthly movies at the civic center. Please go to, www.facebook.com/BediasCivicClubAssoc, for more information.

If you have questions about Darrell Hall roadway issues, and especially in Grimes County, please visit our Facebook Page, www.FixOurDarrellHallRoad@Facebook.com, and share your comments, concerns, and suggestions.

Sunday, June 5, was Celebrate Mackie Day at Bedias Civic Center. Go to www.face book.com/BediasCivicCenter, for a few photos. Mackie Bobo-White has spent a lifetime working for the Bedias community and for education efforts statewide in Texas. Thank you, Mackie, for all you have done, what you will continue to do, and for a wonderful heart for all things Bedias.

Drop Mackie a note if you are new to the Bedias community and if you are not receiving our Bedias bimonthly newsletter in your mailbox. The current issue went out the first week of June. Also, Mackie would like to welcome Bedias newcomers and especially any new veterans who have moved into the Bedias area and introduce them to the community. Drop Mackie a note, mackiebobo44@gmail. com, to learn more and update your contact information for the women’s club annual Veterans Day dinner.

Bedias Women’s Club is taking reservations for booths for the Bedias Country Market slated for Oct. 27, at the Bedias Civic Center. Inside booths are $20 and outside booths are $10. Contact Mackie for a reservation. Have a craft or product to sell? Contact Mackie or any member of the women’s club. This is our fundraiser to fund our annual Veterans Dinner and our local scholarships for Iola and Madisonville ISD. We have not been able to provide the scholarships the last two years because of covid. Contact Mackie with any questions.

Congratulations to everyone else celebrating personal and family occasions. Drop us a note if you want to add someone to our birthday, anniversary, or concerns list.

Please take care when driving near road construction and repair areas. Please uphold our brave law enforcement officers, volunteer firefighters and other first responders. Please uphold the Anthony De’Milo Williams, Jr. family, who lost his life to an October drive by shooting in our little town of Bedias. Services for long time Bedias resident, Richard Chisholm, (RC) will be held at the Shiloh Baptist Church, at Pankey, Monday, June 13, at 4 p.m. Mackie asks for us to hold Ben White in our prayers. Please also hold Roy Willis, Bob and Jackie Jones, Peggy Harrison, Joe and Betty Williamson, MaeDell Younts, Philip Upchurch, Lew Gears and Aidan Fedor in your hearts and prayers.
