Farmer's market draws many

The monthly meeting of Keith Civic Club was held Thursday, June 22, with a small number in attendance. The meeting began with a covered dish meal that was enjoyed by all present. The meeting had a variety of business discussed and acted upon. The main item discussed was work that needs to be done inside the building. Bids will be received and acted on.

Ethan E. Brown and his friend Allison Vanhook came down from Tennessee to celebrate his grandmother Connie Davis on her birthday Friday, June 23. While here they visited her, his brother Peyton and me. It was certainly good to see the two of them. They also visited his mother Wendy Brown’s grave in Evergreen Cemetery.

Iola Cemetery Association held their annual meeting at Zion Church June 24. The association maintains Zion and Enon Cemeteries. Association officers are President Charles Wendt, Vice President Richard Grissett, Secretary Kate De-Haven and Treasurer Michael DeHaven.

There was a variety of business discussed. A memorial service was held for the following who passed away: John Wayman, Melba Boney Wells, Melville Harry Steubing, Wayne Parnell, Shirley Bray Anderson and Richard Dudley. The treasurers report was presented. A report was also presented about the new pavilion that was given to Zion Cemetery.

The monthly farmer’s market was held at Iola Community Center Saturday, June 24. There were lots of vendors selling a variety of goods and a lot of people attended. Hope everyone had a wonderful time.

Our friend and neighbor, June Templeton spent several days in the hospital but is now home. Do remember her in your prayers.

The pulpit at Evergreen Baptist Church was filled last June 18 and June 25, by Deacon Edward Costello in the absence of Pastor, Rev. Jeff Morgan who was on vacation with his family – wife Diana, and children Baylei and Tanner. He did a wonderful job both times. The Morgan’s recently returned from their cruise to the Carribean. They all had a wonderful time. It is certainly good to have them back again.

The younger church children are at camp at Pineywoods in East Texas. They left after church June 25. There were 17 children and three adults, Hope they had a wonderful time. Teens will attend camp next week.

Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star held their monthly meeting Monday, June 26, at their lodge hall in North Zulch. A good meal was enjoyed by all. The business meeting followed. A good deal of business was discussed and acted upon.

Shaw, twins John Allen Hensley and Joan Alayne Hensley McKown. Do hope your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to Michael and Meggan Williams, married July 6; Kalem and Kristie Wendt Evans, married July 7. Do join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
