Well folks 2019 is finally over. Hope that it has been as good for you as it has been for me. God bless each of you.

As for the past several years I have listed the names of those in our community who have passed away or had ties cut to our area. May their memories be forever blessed. Annie Lou Crouch Thomas, Jule Marie Proskine Pecoraro, Charles Edwin “Bo” Beene, Audrey Beckham Jarvis, Leta Young, Lena Mae Bruce Jarvis, Mary Aalund, Donna Nobles Caughron, Robert Louis Risinger, Allen Terrell Robertson, Bernice “Bernie” Colby, Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Hipp Johnson, Rosie Williams, Paula Sue Robbins, Beverly Cobb Moore, Virginia Thomas Miller, Rev. Danny Davis, B.F. “Bill” Cunningham, Houston Ray Miller Dirickson Jr., Ruth James Kolbasinski, Tommy D. Cook, John Oscar Ruen, Becky Lewis. Many of them were buried in the area and others were buried elsewhere.

Upcoming events in the area includes the monthly meetings of two Masonic Lodges. The first is that of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 which will meet at their Lodge hall in Anderson Monday, Jan. 6. The meeting will start at 6 p.m. with a covered dish meal and will be followed by their business meeting. The second is that of the Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651. The meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 7, and will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed with their business meeting at 7 p.m. All Masons are invited to attend either or both meetings.

Evergreen Baptist Church held a candlelit service at the church on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, with a good number in attendance. Several other area churches held them as well. All had a wonderful time. To the best of my knowledge no services were held the following day. All churches were back in business Sunday, Dec. 29. Just remember that Christ is the reason for the season.

Many had people over for Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25, and others went out of town. Ryan Smith flew to Georgia to see his friend Garrett Lee Inmon who is in the Navy. Others went elsewhere. Hope that all went well with everyone.

Happy birthday this week to the following: Dec. 28 - Neil Cour-Palais, Autumn Swader; Dec. 29 – Ronnie Gene Harmon, Donnie Ray Harmon, Martha McCleney; Dec. 30 – Cheryl Lynn McDonald, Kevin T. Phillips, William R. “Bill” Lavender; Dec. 31 – Zelma Clary, Dennis Pollard, Finnian Marcell; Jan. 1 – Katherine Carson; Do hope that your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to Chris and Tammy Martin married Dec. 31, 1990. Do join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
