High Point seeking Angel Tree sponsors

High Point Elementary is seeking donations for their Angel Tree. They need sponsors for approximately 100 students who are in need this holiday season. If you would like to sponsor a student or family, contact Cassie Russell, russellc@navasotaisd.org. Donations will need to be dropped off by Friday, Dec. 2. 

 

In the fall of 1621, the Pilgrims — early settlers of Plymouth Colony — held a three-day feast to celebrate a bountiful harvest. Many regard this as the nation's first Thanksgiving. The legacy of thanks and the feast have survived for centuries, with the event becoming a national holiday as of Oct. 3, 1863. Happy Thanksgiving Grimes County!

 

November is American Indian and Alaskan Native Heritage Month.

 

KBTX Food for Families Food Drive will be held at MidSouth in Navasota Dec. 7, from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Please donate non-perishable items or monetary donations.

 

Plantersville Christmas Parade is scheduled for Dec. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at the Plantersville-Stoneham Fire Department.

Macedonia Baptist Church, 6957 CR206 in Blackberry Community is hosting a Thanksgiving meal Nov. 24 at noon instead of collecting dry goods. The 5th Annual Anderson Holiday Fest is Saturday, Dec. 3, from 2 – 10:30 p.m. featuring Tracy Byrd, Rick Trevino, Bri Bagwell, Jason Cassidy and Jeff Canada. There will be vendors, food trucks, Santa Claus, Kids Zone and more. 

 

Charm and Sewing 4-H Club has various ongoing community service projects. • Through March 27, 2023, they are collecting pull tabs from beverage or canned food items. Eula Mae Leggett is in charge of the project. • Through May 22, 2023, Homeless care packages are being collected. Each member donates 5-quart bags filled with personal hygiene items including lotion, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash. Bring to the monthly meeting.
