Keith Civic Club meeting July 27

Iola Food Pantry monthly distribution was held at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall July 15. Approximately 64 families, 184 people, received food. Workers from Zion Methodist Church and other workers assisted those that came by. Others came the day before to help set up for distribution. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month for anyone needing a helping hand. There was one new person this time.

Elizabeth Ashley was baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church. She was saved at Camp Pineywoods this summer. Her family was present to witness the baptism and wish her well. There were also family members that joined the church. They are Casey, Janette and Teagan Savage. It is certainly good to have them. They have been attending for some time.

There was another person that died in the area. Barry Gene Willis passed away July 11, in College Station. He was born Jan. 28, 1959, the son of Walter and Murchinson Willlis. He was a man that loved his family more than life itself. He is survived by his wife Donna Ray and his children. His service was held at Nobles Funeral Chapel and burial was at Enon Cemetery. There was a meal served at Keith Community Center. Do remember all of his family in your prayers.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 will meet at their lodge hall Tuesday, Aug. 1. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal. John Ray Maxwell will be awarded his 50-year service award. All Masons are invited to attend.

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 will have their lodge meeting Monday, Aug. 7. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a covered dish meal. All Masons are invited to attend.

Keith Civic Club will meet at Keith Community Center Thursday, July 27. Instead of a covered dish meal, there will be homemade ice cream and finger foods such as sandwiches, chips and more. Everyone is invited to attend. Come out and visit with your friends and neighbors.

Pyramid Masonic Lodge No. 593 held their monthly meeting July 18, at their lodge hall in North Zulch with a good number of members and visitors attending. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. New officers were installed. Installing them was James Bracewell who was the presiding officer and Larry Smith, the Marshall. New officers include Worshipful Master Mike Ellis, Senior Warden David McFarland, Junior Warden Guy Burrows, Secretary Hardy Nevill, Treasurer Mike Cohen, Chaplain Ronnie Brown, Senior Deacon Kenneth Wilson, Junior Deacon Larry McGinty, Master of Ceremonies Billy Simmons and Tiler John Ray Maxwell. Mike Cohen, the outgoing Master of the Lodge was presented the Golden Trowell Award for his years of service.

Evergreen Baptist Church had a wonderful Vacation Bible School that ended July 19. There were around 65 children and 25 workers. Following VBS there were several food trucks with all sorts of good eats. Everyone had a wonderful time.

Do hope your spcial day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary this week to Rudy and Carol Compian Galvan, married July 25, 1982; Michael and Donna Coneley, married July 29, 1977. Do join me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
