Spring Break is March 13-17, enjoy and be safe!

 

City of Plantersville held a special meeting Feb. 27. There were several items discussed including the Plantersville-Stoneham VFD sign, certification of unopposed candidates for the May election, and a survey conducted by GrantWorks. The next meeting is March 20, at 7 p.m. at Plantersville Town Hall.

 

Plantersville Stoneham VFD is hosting their annual Bazaar and BBQ Dinner Sunday, April 16.

 

Bernhardt Winery won 2023 Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, with their Antiquity Chardonnary Reserve, Danube Plain 2020. The winning bottle was purchased by Sire Spirits, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. Congratulations!

 

Save the date for the Yard, Arts & Crafts Show at the Bedias Civic Center, 3652 E. Main St. in Bedias on April 29, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. They also need vendors.

 

Anderson Volunteer Fire Department’s annual steak dinner and auction is April 22. To donate auction items for the live auction, reach out to Samantha Kimich, 936-870-6438 or Mary Beth Wesley, 832-306-5457. Thank you for your continued support of AVFD!

 

St Joseph's Catholic Church in Stoneham will host a fish fry March 10, and another will be hosted at the KC Hall in Anderson on March 24. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and plates are $15.

 

Early registration for the Grimes County Youth Football Association Football and Cheer begins in April for all youth.

 

Navasota Citizens University registration is open. Register by March 10, to be a part of this free class. You will receive a firsthand look at how government operates and how decisions are made. Free Groceries are available every third Thursday of the month, 11 a.m. at Relay Station in Plantersville for families in Plantersville/Stoneham/Todd Mission.

 

Save the date for the 11th Annual Plantersville Crawfish Festival and Cook-Off Saturday, April 29, at 11:30 a.m.

 

Applications are open for MidSouth Electric Scholarships. Graduating seniors planning to attend college, university, trade or technical school may apply for a $1,000 scholarship. Parents or legal guardians must be a member of MidSouth Electric Co-op. The application deadline is March 30.

 

Macedonia Baptist Church, 6957 CR206, Plantersville "Blackberry Community" invites Grimes County out to their Outreach/Health Fair on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. There will be resources to help the community such as MD Anderson, Texas Children’s Hospital, security information, food, clothing etc. Anyone who wants to be a part of this event or to donate, contact Ever Johnson, 936-894-2094. We are looking for a face painter and a bounce house for children. Thanks in advance.
