BRRRR! It’s cold outside! Bundle up and stay warm.

After a relatively warm weekend, the cold weather pushed through our area making it feel even much colder. It’s beginning to feel a lot like December. There’s nothing like spending the holidays enjoying the Christmas tree and sitting snuggled by a cozy warm fire. This can really put you in the true Christmas spirit.

As we all know nothing can put you in the Christmas spirit faster than giving. If you would like to put a smile on a little boy or girls face, look no further than the Richards Volunteer Fire Department. They are hosting a toy drive. This will be their first toy drive, so come out and bring some joy to a child while giving Christmas Cheer. You may drop off your toys at one of the donation sites which open Dec.17, at the following locations.

Haynie’s General Store, 11035 FM 149 E. in Richards open Monday- Saturday 6 a.m-7 p.m. (936-851-2525); Richards Grocery Store, 11175 FM 149 E. Open Monday - Sunday. 6 a.m - 8 p.m. (936-851-2460); Drifters Ice-house, 29293 FM 149 open Wednesday - Thursday 11 a.m-7 p.m. and Friday- Sunday 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

The Richards Annual Christmas parade will take place Saturday, Dec. 14. If you would like to participate in the parade you are welcome. Just meet at the Richards school at 1 p.m. and the parade will begin at 2 p.m. Following the parade, in the parking lot of Haynie’s General Store, there will be many activities including worship, Christmas music, giveaways and drinks. Everyone is invited to come out to Richards and have a wonderful time.

On Dec. 21, remember Bays Chapel United Methodist Church will be having their live Nativity and other activities from 1 p.m. till 4 p.m.

With so many fun activities going on in and around Richards and all through the county we will certainly be busy. While you are out and about, be safe while traveling. Our area seems to have more traffic all the time. Have a safe and beautiful holiday! If you have anything special happening in your life or in your family be sure to contact me by phone or email.

Have a beautiful week!
