Commissioners Court is held every first and third Wednesday of each month starting 9 a.m.

Richards Volunteer Fire Department, community churches and Masonic Lodge 1116 is hosting a Free Community Day/Family Fun Fest July 22, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Richards VFD, 11136 FM 149 E, Richards, Texas 77830. The City of Navasota and Navasota Police Department are seeking volunteers to assist during a renovation day at the shelter July 22, at 8 a.m.

The mobile mammogram bus will return to Navasota Public Library Aug. 8. Call 713-313-4424 to make your appointment.

There is not currently a burn ban in Grimes County but please be careful if you do burn.

There will be an ice cream social at Roans Prairie Community Center July 25, at 2 p.m. Bring whatever games you want and let the fun begin!

Grimes County True Blue Banquet is Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Grimes County Expo Center. Live music featuring Mark Chesnutt, John Schneider, Payton Howie and Brian Sacco. Guest speakers include Grimes County District Attorney Andria Bender, Wende O. Wakeman and John Schneider. There will be a fajita dinner and live and silent auctions. Todd Mission Volunteer Fire Department, 21718 FM1774, Plantersville will be hosting a BBQ Fundraiser Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Plates are $15 each. Whole briskets are $100 each but must be preordered by Aug. 16.

Texas C-Step will be giving free mobile mammograms in Waller County Aug. 24, at the House of Help/Faith United Church, in Hempstead. To schedule your appointment, call a Community Health Worker by Aug. 10, 979-4360453 or 979-436-0443. You must pre-register two weeks in advance.

Men Making Moves Scholarship Foundation is hosting their Annual Backpack Give Away Aug. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. for students in Head Start-12th grade. Navasota High School students must be present to receive a backpack.

The 2nd annual Plantersville Town Hall 52 guns raffle tickets are on sale. Tickets are $100 each and one winner will be selected each week for 52 weeks. There are only 500 tickets being sold.
