Attention all Seniors 50 and over - the 5th Annual Sweetheart Valentine’s Senior Concert and Dance, hosted by the St. Mary’s Guardian Angels senior group, is set for Friday, Feb. 14, from 7-11 p.m. in the parish hall at St. Mary’s in Plantersville. Come and enjoy the music of a local Grimes Countian Bill Mock and the Hi-way 105 Band featuring country and pop hits of the 50s and 60s. You may sit and just enjoy the music or better yet, relive the past with your sweetheart on the dance floor. Cost of this great night of fine entertainment is $10 per person. Adults only (50+) please. Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks will be provided. For more information call the parish office at 936-894-2223.

The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m. till noon at the Expo Center in Navasota. Only residents of the county can participate. Proof of residency is required.

The Lone Star Legal Aid helps low income persons and families with civil legal problems. This organization will have an attorney available Monday, Feb. 17, from 1-3 p.m. at the Grimes County Health Resource Center, 210 S. Judson St. in Navasota to meet one-on-one with individuals who meet LSLA’s eligibility requirements. You can call 1-800-570-4773 to make an appointment or walk-ins will be first come, first served.

Tuesday, Feb. 18, Wendy Watriss and Fred Baldwin, renowned international photojournalists, will return to Grimes County where nearly five decades ago in the early 1970s they first came to the area to photograph local families and events that thrust them into world known prominence. Wendy and Fred will show a power point composite photo exhibit entitled “Grimes County, a Journey in Time.” The pair’s time in Grimes County extended into the 1980s. They are eager to welcome and meet many of their long-known friends. This is a free event that the general public is invited to at 7 p.m. at the Navasota Center hosted by Two Rivers Heritage Foundation and the Grimes County Historical Commission.

Need a facility for a family reunion, birthday party or anniversary celebration? The Columbus Club Association of Anderson oversees operation of the Knights of Columbus Hall and Pavilion located at 1962 Highway 90 in Anderson. These facilities are available for rent to members of the community. The hall is an ideal location for family functions featuring a full kitchen, two multipurpose areas with table and chairs, and restroom facilities. The adjacent open-air pavilion has a covered slab with picnic tables, a serving area, electrical power outlets and lights. The large parking area can accommodate over 100 vehicles.
