The Anderson Food Pantry, 367 Fanthorp St. will be open Thursday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. until noon. All residents of Grimes County in need of food can participate. For more information, contact Renee Fredwood, 936-873-5005.

It seems like eons ago that little Christopher Ramirez chased his neighbors’ dog into the woods and was missing and later found after three full days. But then again, it seems like only yesterday because his search and rescue is still so vivid in the minds of so many people. Sunday, Oct. 9 will be the 1-year anniversary of the day he was found. On Friday, Oct. 7, a gathering will be held at the American Legion Hall, 415 Hill St. in Anderson at 10 a.m. for those who took part in the search and whoever else would like to attend. A breakfast will be served. Please RSVP to lisa.bates@grimescountytexas. gov.

St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will hold their 68th homecoming bazaar Sunday, Oct. 9 on the parish grounds, 1511 Hwy. 90 South. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a barbecue lunch with all the trimmings in the parish hall beginning at 11 a.m. Cost per plate of delicious home-style cooking is $15. The day will include spin to win booths, kid’s games, live Polish music for your listening and dancing pleasure, a raffle of 10 prizes, Babusha’s Porch consisting of homemade jams and jellies, pickles, salsa, kolaches, arts and crafts and much more, and don’t forget to check out the 1917 historic church that will be open for viewing. The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Oct. 13 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the back-parking lot of the Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County will be served and will only need to show their driver’s license when they complete the once-a-year Client Assistant Intake form. Worship service begins at 10 a.m. followed by a meal (freewill offering) and a short program on the history of the church. Perfect day for historian lovers!
