The first Christmas tree lighting event will be Monday, Dec. 9. There will be free professional pictures with Santa and ornaments for the elementary school students. The lighting of the tree will take place at The Mercantile at Main St. Market beginning at 6 p.m.

Shop local for Christmas this year. There will be an Io-la Town and Country Christmas Market Monday, Dec. 9, from 3 p.m. till 9 p.m. This event will take place at The Mercantile at Main St. Market and The Rockin Chair. Join us for shopping, fellowship and fun. There will be many vendors featured, hot cocoa, local food truck, and musicians playing your favorite Christmas music.

Cross Baptist Youth will be hosting a parent’s day out Dec. 14, from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m. This is for infants through fifth grade and will be eight fun filled hours for your kiddos. Registration deadline is Dec. 8. The cost is $40 for the first child, $20 for the first sibling, $10 for the second sibling and all additional children attend free. Please bring a sack lunch for each child. Cross Baptist Youth will provide a morning and afternoon snack. All proceeds go toward helping youth workers attend church camp. You can make checks payable to Cross Baptist Church.
