I hope everyone had a good Father’s Day because I did. My son-in-law Chuck cooked for us and I sure did accept the invite to come on over!

Don’t forget FREE Bingo beginning at 5:30 p.m. each Tuesday at Grimes County VFW Post 4006. Everyone gets a free card and extra cards are available for a small price. In addition, Chef Jim cooks that night, too. He may have hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken salad sandwiches with French fries or chips. His wife Carol makes a dessert to share. Prizes do not include money, but the final winner last night got several nice gifts.

My cousin Larry called, and he came over for the day. I think both of us enjoyed doing something different. The only thing we didn’t change was the moaning when we got up from sitting too long!

Navasota Freedom Festival is June 30, in downtown. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and there will be booths set up around Navasota City Hall for the public. Come and join the fun and check out the VFW table.

White Hall Community VFD will have their first Saturday sandwiches July 1 and their monthly meeting will be July 10 rather than July 3. Visitors are welcome to come to the monthly meetings.

The summer VBS program is being held at Salem Lutheran Church July 17-21, from 9-11:30 a.m. Register online at salemwhitehall.org/ events. To volunteer to help, contact Susan Brak, 936870-7237 or Gail Schroeder, 936-870-8401.
