4-H community projects ongoing

Charm and Sewing 4-H Club has various ongoing community service projects. • Through March 27, 2023, they are collecting pull tabs from beverage or canned food items. Eula Mae Leggett is in charge of the project. • Through May 22, 2023, Homeless care packages are being collected. Each member donates 5-quart bags filled with personal hygiene items including lotion, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash. Bring to the monthly meeting. Torian Fair is in charge of the project. • Oct. 29 – Halloween Trunk-or-Treat;

• Nov. 30 – KBTX Food for Families Food Drive; • Through Jan. 24, 2023 – Blanket Drive; • Nov. 1 – Dec. 13 – Sock Drive; Nov. 1 – Dec. 19 – Pajama Drive; • Through Dec. 15 – Toy Drive; Contact Patricia Mitchell, 936-577-4803 for more information.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205 in Plantersville is having their annual Gigantic Fall Rummage Sale Saturday, Nov. 5, from 7 – 4 p.m. The annual Anderson-Shiro Fall Festival is Oct. 21, at Anderson-Shiro Elementary from 5:30-8:30p.m. There will be live and silent auctions, raffl e, games and more.

Otis Greenwood sends gratitude to all in Plantersville and surrounding areas for their support during his illness and healing process. God is a miracle worker! We continue to pray for his healing.

Mark your calendar for the 2022 Navasota City-wide Garage Sale on Nov. 5. Apply for your $5 garage sale permit by Oct. 27, at Navasota City Hall. A map of garage sales will be included in the Nov. 2, edition of The Examiner.

Early voting is Monday, Oct. 24 - Friday, Nov. 4. Midterm Election is Nov. 8. All polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on election day.

Macedonia Baptist Church, 6957 CR 206, Plantersville in the Blackberry Community is officially open. Sunday services start at 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School and 10:30 a.m. for morning worship. Southern Charm Boutique and Salon in Navasota is partnering with Christian Community Services in Navasota to fill their food pantry. They began accepting items Sept. 15 and will continue to collect through Nov. 15. Let’s help our community! Drop off your food items at Southern Charm and for every two items you donate, you receive one entry into a drawing for a $100 Southern Charm gift card.
