Concord Cemetery Assoc. meeting Oct. 16

Movie night at Evergreen Baptist Church Thursday, Sept. 30, was well attended. The movie was “Beautifully Broken.” It was about a refugee’s escape, a prisoner’s promise and a daughter’s painful secret converging in a true story of hope. Pizza, popcorn and drinks were served. An offering was collected to help children in Africa. A good sum of money was raised. God bless all that assisted.

Evergreen Baptist Church had a busy day Sunday, Oct. 3, when McKenzi Pruett and Noah Montoya were baptized by Rev. Jeff Morgan. Both had family members present for the event. Paul and Barbara Reynolds and their granddaughter Ava became members of the church. It is god to have them as members.

Concord Cemetery near Iola is having their cemetery association meeting Saturday, Oct. 16. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. Andy Selman is the cemetery president. Anyone interested or that have family members buried there are urged to attend. Hope to see you there.

Evergreen Baptist Church is planning their fall fest Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. This event is for the entire family. There will be a meal, carnival games, prizes, face painting, music and of course tasty treats. All are invited to attend.

The monthly meeting of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 was held in Anderson Monday, Oct. 4, with a good number of members and visitors in attendance. A meal was enjoyed by all present. The meeting followed with a good amount of business discussed and acted upon. The main item was the open air degree that will take place on Saturday in Anderson. That will be in next week’s column.

The monthly meeting of Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 was held at their lodge hall Tuesday, Oct. 5, with a good number in attendance. A covered dish meal was enjoyed by all present. Following the meeting a variety of business was discussed and acted upon. A good time was had by all.

Congratulations to Chase and Hillary Trant Baker on the birth of their second son, Brekken James Baker, born Sunday, Sept. 26. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19.5 inches. He was welcomed home by big brother Hayes. He is the grandson of James Ray and Cynthia Lewis Trant.

Bobby Joe Davis. Do hope your special day was a happy one.

Happy anniversary to: Thomas Eugene Ted Davis and Sammye Sexton Davis, married Oct. 11, 1969; Mike and Susie Lynn Cohen, married Oct. 11, 1985; Brent and Casey Childress, married Oct. 14; Leeland and Sherina Sanford, married Oct. 14.
