What a fantastic Veterans Day parade. There were three fire trucks including “the Black Sheep” of White Hall Community VFD. Sheriff Sowell was the Grand Marshall. There was a large military vehicle driven by Michael Briggs carrying children, one motorcycle (a member of the American Legion), a couple of VFW trucks with members, a church group walking, scouts leading the parade, horse riders, three horse drawn carriages for veterans to ride, a couple antique vehicles, a few county officials, a church van and a school bus.

I want to thank Bert Miller for sharing the Facebook post reminding residents and Dr. Stu Musick for making sure the parade information was shared with all Navasota ISD campuses. Thank you to all that participated and came to watch the 2023 Veterans Day parade.

Saturday night of this busy weekend was also good. The Chamber Blues Festival was held at The Post. As President of the Grimes County VFW Post 4006 Auxiliary, it was great to be included in the festivities. Most of all, the generosity of the attendees who purchased tickets for our bucket raffle was amazing. We put our best salesperson, Wyndy, in charge. Thanks to those who donated money for our endeavor to assist veterans and their families in Grimes County.

Sunday, members Janis Frenzel, Wyndy Kimich, Joni Surovik, Diane Guzman, Bree Surovik and I were at The Post drawing winners for our biggest fundraiser of the year. Janis deserves a lot of recognition for all the work she did to make this happen. Brenda Storey was a huge help with gaining donations and assisting Janis. Auxiliary members collected donations and made donations just to have a good number of items to raffle. Thanks to all the volunteers, businesses and people who donated, to the people who purchased the tickets and to the Auxiliary because without all of you, our success could not have happened.

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. I am sure all churches will be having services, and they all welcome visitors.

Wreaths Across America is Dec. 16. Wreaths will be placed at graves of veterans. Let me know if you want to participate in placing the wreaths, so I can count the helpers.

Please pray for the family of Gertrude Feldmann who passed away this week.

Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer lists. These friends include Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Suzie Rimes, Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Delores Mitschke, Glenn Binder and Betty Feldmann.
