Keith Civic Club meeting Sept. 28
Evergreen Baptist Church had a guest speaker Sept. 10. Jon Harper filled in for Rev. Jeff Morgan who was out of town with his wife, Diana, and son, Tanner. They were visiting their daughter Baylei.
Harper is the founder of Word Ministries and is the co-author of Minute of Marriage. He was accompanied by his wife Teresa. Sunday evening the church provided a catered meal. Around 41 people attended. Everyone had a wonderful time.
Iola lost their home game Sept. 8, to Lovelady, 55-12. Prior to the game there was a fish fry at Iola Community Center to raise money for The Center. There was also a cake sale. The event was successful. They are renovating the entire building. Thanks to all who assisted in any way. The fish was cooked by Frog Compian and his crew and was certainly good.
Area residents were sorry to learn about the death of Bonnie Sue Martin Keller, age 61, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 3. She was born in Willcox, Arizona May 22, 1962, to Tom Lee and Elaine Owen Martin. She married Lloyd Keller in 1979. They were the parents of 11 children. There will be a memorial service in November in Willcox. Remember her husband, children, grandchildren and other family members in your prayers.
Another death in our area is Rose Ann Padron Vinson who died Sept. 8. She was born to Julian and Sandra Flores Padron March 15, 1950 in Iola. She attended Iola High School. She was married twice, first to Don Hollie Creamer, then to John Richmond Vinson. She was the mother of three Creamer children, Donald Hollie, John Michael and Lori Ann. Her funeral was held at Madisonville Funeral Home and burial was in Madisonville City Cemetery. She and her siblings grew up in the Padron Store in Iola. Do remember her husband John and all her family members in your prayers.
Keith Civic Club will have their monthly meeting Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Keith Community Center. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal and the business meeting will follow. All members are expected, and visitors are always welcomed. Make plans to attend and visit with friends and neighbors.
Iola Eastern Star No. 458 will have their monthly meeting at Pyramid Masonic Lodge in North Zulch Monday, Sept. 25. The meeting will begin with a meal at 6:30 p.m.
Don and Susan Binch recently returned from the funeral of our friend Jon K. Proskine in the Military Cemetery in Arlington. They were accompanied by other family members. May his memory be forever blessed. He was buried beside his wife Carmlita.
