The Golden Hearts Senior Citizen Group met at the Evergreen Baptist Church fellowship hall Saturday, July 13, with great attendance. Finger foods such as sandwiches, chips, fruits and desserts were enjoyed by all in attendance. Following the meal everyone bonded over games and had a wonderful time.
Hope that everyone had an opportunity to see the International Space Station pass over Tuesday and Wednesday, July 16 and 17. It was great to see. Myself and many others witnessed the event while at a party at Bob and Marvinee Hares’ house. Bob loved having people over and has gone to a better place now.
Two weeks of church camp for the children from Evergreen Baptist Church was enjoyed by both children and adult sponsors. The big children went to Pineywoods and Highland Lakes Camps. Several children made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and there were several rededications as well.
Friends and family members of the late Paula Sue Smith Robbins were saddened to learn of her death Tuesday, July 2. She was proceeded in death by her husband Charles Wesley “C.W.” who died Nov. 18, 2007. Her funeral was held at Nobles Funeral Chapel and was laid to rest beside her husband in the Evergreen Cemetery. Remember her family members and loved ones in your prayers.
Local friends and family of Kirk Gregory Rice were also saddened to hear of his passing Saturday, July 6. He is the son of Jim Rice and Audrey Sue Yargo Rice. His visitation was at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias and his funeral was at the Cross Baptist Church Thursday, July 11. The funeral was conducted by brother Monroe Rice, pastor of the church. Burial was in Lake Grove Cemetery where many of his family members are buried including his grandparents Adolph and Effie Yargo. Remember his loved ones in your prayers.
Area friends of Beverly Cobb Moore were saddened to learn of her death Wednesday, June 19, after a long illness. She was born Nov. 21, 1949, daughter of Jabie and Mary Lois Rice Cobb. For many years her mother ran the Carlos store. Her memorial service will be held at the Keith Community Center Saturday, Aug. 10, and her ashes will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery beside her mother’s grave. Mitchell Beene will be in charge of the service. Light refreshments such as cookies, cake and coffee will be served. Remember her loved ones in your prayers. Instead of flowers please make donations in her memory to the Evergreen Cemetery, 8700 C.R. 172 Iola, Tx 77861.
The Keith Civic Club monthly meeting will be held at the Keith Community Center Thursday, July 25. Instead of the usual covered meal all attending are asked to bring dishes such as finger foods, sandwiches, chips, dips, cookies and homemade ice cream. The meal will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed up by their business meeting. Everyone is invited to attend.
