Knights of Columbus Council #4054 is busy as usual. They held a blood drive and pancake breakfast Sunday at St. Stanislaus. The next blood drive is scheduled for April 16. January’s Knight of the Month was Jarl Renn and the Family of the Month was Blake and Jennifer Scholz. This organization is getting ready for their annual Lenten Fish Frys. The first one will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Plantersville; the next at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Stoneham; and the last one will be held at KC Hall in Anderson. All events begin at 5 p.m. Price of plates will be $15 each and $10 for children under 12.

At this organizations’ January monthly meeting, District Deputy Joe Geiman presented the Texas State KC CharityAward to Grand Knight Richard Hicks. The award presentation, recognizing this council’s 2021 Fraternal year for meeting all the requirements of the Texas State Charity Goal, was delayed due to the pandemic. Good job to all the members who work hard in our community with the desire to help others.

It was an emotional week around Lance and Jennifer Lavergne’s household this past week. Their baby, Landon, turned 13 Wednesday, Feb. 8 which means two teenagers in the house now. To celebrate, his family took him to eat at a Hibachi Grill in College Station that evening. Friday night was Senior Night at the basketball game where Austin, age 18, was one of the seniors honored from the team. Lance turned 48 Sunday, Feb. 12 so family and friends gathered Saturday evening to celebrate both of the birthdays. Of course, crawfish was the main course!

Our little Case Krause turned two on Feb. 2. Because of various situations, his birthday wasn’t celebrated until Saturday, Feb. 11 with a party at our house. The race car theme fit him perfect because he loves to ride on anything that has wheels and goes fast. It was a cold day but didn’t stop all the kids from running and playing outside as well as jumping in the bouncy house. I made a roaster full of chicken spaghetti that was gone by the end of the day.

Caroline Guidry, daughter of Chad and Theresa Guidry of Iola, became the bride of Randall Nelson, son of Scott and B.J. Nelson of Victoria, Saturday, Feb. 11. The wedding ceremony took place at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Eunice, Louisiana. This church is special to Caroline because it is the church that her parents were married in and also the church her grandparents, Julius and Deanna Bischoff, were married in. Traveling from our area to the wedding was my aunt, Ann McDuffie of Iola, and her daughter, Stacy Buckner of Huntsville. During the ceremony Ann was honored to read the first reading and the song sang during the presentation of the gifts was the Sanctuary Song in memory of her late husband Charlie McDuffi e. A dinner and dance reception followed at La Belle Venue. Randall and Caroline will make their home in Cypress.

Happy Birthday to those celebrating this week: Feb. 16 – Karen McDuffie, Bradley Klawinsky, Greg Backhus, Gavin Szymczak; Feb. 17 – Carley Lee, Laura Korenek, Timothy Willett; Feb. 18 – Erica Borski, Seth Ojeda; Feb. 19 – KerriAnna Lavender, Mason Cleere, Jacy Teston, Jamie Klawinsky, Lisa Sexton, Jonathan Sexton; Feb. 20 – Anita Perry, Sara Adamo, Timothy Szymanski; Feb. 21 – Kaitlyn Backhus, Mc-Coy Profili, Mike Bewley; Feb. 22 – Donovan Pavlock and Betty Walkoviak.
