Masonic lodge meetings Dec. 4 and 5

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No. 17 will meet Monday, Dec. 4, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting. This is the final meeting of the year. All Masons are invited to attend.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651 will host their monthly meeting Tuesday, Dec. 5, beginning with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. The business meeting will follow. This is the final meeting of the year. All Masons are urged and invited to attend.

Keith Civic Club held their monthly meeting at the Keith Community Center Nov. 16. The meeting was held a week early because the original meeting date would have fallen on Thanksgiving Day. There will not be a meeting in December. The next meeting will be Jan. 25. At that meeting the annual dues will be ready for payment. It was reported several people have rented the building. Hopefully that will go well. I will see y’all the next time we meet.

Baylei Morgan received her college ring from East Texas Baptist University Nov. 15. She will graduate Dec. 9, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Present for her ring ceremony were her parents, Rev. Jeff and Diana Morgan, and her brother Tanner. I look forward to seeing her graduate.

This has certainly been a successful volleyball season for the Iola Lady Bulldogs. They defeated Schulenburg Nov. 15 in the state semifinals, then beat Crawford for the state championship Nov. 17. Best wishes to all of them. Each were presented with a medal. Many people watched the state championship game at the Evergreen Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. This was Iola’s fourth year to win state.

The monthly food pantry was held Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. There were over 100 people that came for food. There were a variety of meats, fresh food and canned goods. Some of the canned goods were donated by Evergreen Batist Church and others. All in all, it was very successful.

A double tombstone was placed in Martins Prairie Cemetery for Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Beene who was born March 13, 1940 and died Dec. 7, 2022. She is survived by her husband, Gary N. Beene. May God bless her memory and her husband.

Evergreen Baptist Church had their Thanksgiving meal at the church fellowship hall Sunday, Nov. 19, following the Sunday morning service. There was a full house of members and visitors present. The following evening the members decorated the church for Christmas with a good number present to help. Pizza and dessert were served to those who helped decorate.

There was a large group of people at Keith Community Center Nov. 18, for Dan Snow’s retirement party. He retired from the FBI after a long career with them. Around 100 people attended. A good time was had by all and the meal was enjoyed.
