Plantersville Stoneham VFD seek volunteers

Plantersville Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department is looking for a few good women and men to be firefighters and first responders. They meet and offer trainings every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the station. Everyone is invited to attend. Applications are available.

Has anyone had their packages stolen from them lately? Apparently, packages have gone missing on CR 202. A package was stolen March 15 from a porch on CR 201. I had a package taken off my porch on CR 206A in Dec. 2021. I reported it to the post office. It’s a shame you can’t have your packages left on your doorstep or porch anymore.

The 2nd Annual A Cause for Paws Fundraiser Festival benefitting Grimes County Animal Rescue will be held Saturday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Grimes County Expo Center. Music will be performed by A tribute to George Strait by Derek Spence. Thanks in advance.

Minister Ron Taylor and The Place of Grace on CR 313 in the Blackberry Community, Plantersville will host a two-night revival Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26, beginning at 7 p.m. Apostle Pamela Payne is the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to come out and hear God’s word.

The 20th annual Keep Navasota Beautiful Trash Off will be held Apr. 9, from 8 a.m. until noon. Find out more at www.navasotatx. gov.

The sixth Annual Marvin Longabaugh Memorial Chili Cookoff is Saturday, April 2, beginning at 9 a.m. at 7D Ranch, 2729 CR305, Navasota. All proceeds benefit at-risk youth in Grimes County through programs such as scholarships, Boy Scout Troop 361, Grimes County Little League, food banks, 4-H Programs, high school after prom programs, and the Diamonettes. Entergy has upcoming outages that will impact some residents. These outages are improvement projects which requires Entergy to take an outage for their crews’ safety. Entergy outages scheduled for Saturday, March 26, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. will impact approximately 590 customers at the intersection of Craig and Nolan Street; Stadium Drive; North McNair Street and Cleveland Street.

Entergy outages scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 9, from 2-9 p.m. will affect approximately 147 customers on the south side of town including Link Drive; Interstate Drive; Industrial Drive; South Business 6; and County Road 451.

The Millican-Heritage Barbecue Cookoff and Fundraiser is Apr. 1-2 at the Millican Community Center.

Grimes County Relay for Life is scheduled for Friday, April 8, from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. at Navasota City Hall. This is the first Relay for Life event in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mark your calendars and come walk a few laps to honor or remember someone you know that has battled cancer.

There will be a Birthday Party with the Wolves at Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary, 6731 Pavlock Rd., in Navasota, Saturday, Apr. 16, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The 10th Annual Plantersville Crawfish Festival and Cookoff will be held Saturday, Apr. 30, beginning at 11 a.m. at 19318 FM 1774 in Plantersville.

Twin Oaks Landfill in Carlos will be accepting household hazardous waste Saturday, April 23, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.
