The burn ban in Grimes County has been lifted. Remember to use caution when burning. Our deepest sympathy and prayers are with the family of Queen Elizabeth II for their loss. Texas Renaissance Festival will begin another season in the kingdom weekends beginning Oct. 8 thru Nov. 27. Plantersville Town Hall is hosting a 52 Gun Raffl e this year. All proceeds benefit Plantersville Town Hall, which is a 501-C3 charitable organization. Plantersville Town Hall supports Plantersville and surrounding communities with student scholarships, maintains the historic Plantersville Town Hall building, barbershop, hosts various civic events and maintains the community playground. Tickets are $100 each and only 500 tickets will be sold. Every ticket drawn will be put back in the drum for more chances to win. Each ticket sold has 52 chances to win. Drawings will begin the first Tuesday of the month following the last ticket being sold.

Tickets went on sale Sept. 5. To purchase tickets, email Terry Bratcher, You can pay by Zelle, check or cash. Members will be at Town Hall selling tickets Thursday, Sept. 15, from 3 - 7 p.m. Get your ticket now before they are all gone!

The inaugural VFW Post 4006 Car Show is Saturday, Sept. 24. Car show entrees are only $20 per vehicle and any type of vehicle are welcome. A Best of Show will be awarded at 5:30 p.m. based on peer voting. Vendor spots are available for $50 and secures you a 10x10 space. Persons wanting to enter their car, may contact the VFW by calling 936-825-3666 (ext. 2) or emailing commander@ grimescountyvfw4006. org. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the show with free admission. All proceeds will go toward helping local veterans of Grimes County. Grimes County VFW is located at 1575 West Washington Avenue in Navasota.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that each year one in six Americans will get sick from eating contaminated food in homes and restaurants. That’s why the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is offering a certified food manager course.

The next class is Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brazos County Extension Office in Bryan. This hands-on food safety course will equip people with the latest in food safety principles and practices and help prepare them for the National Certified Food Manager Examination. The cost of the course is $115 and includes the course, national certification examination, coursebook, and all course materials. For more info call 979-823-0129 or Texas Farm Bureau is hosting a Forum on Solar Projects and Foreign Ownership of Agricultural Land on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. The forum will be held in-person and via Zoom. Presenters will cover solar projects and tax abatements used by companies, as well as foreign ownership of ag land.

Grimes County come out and help us celebrate Macedonia Baptist Church, 6957 CR 206, Plantersville in the Blackberry Community.
