Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, the day we remember and give thanks to those who served in the military. In our family the late John L. Sowell, my husband Don Sowell, our son Clint Branch and our son-in-law Dave Waitz proudly served in the United States Air Force. Our nephew Justin Sowell served in the Marines. Of course, there were other family members before these mentioned that also served in the military many years ago. Please remember those who served and died as they fought for our freedom. To all Veterans, thank you for your service. Check the Examiner for Veterans Day events this weekend.

It was a wild weekend for our family. The baby sister of our sonin- law Tanner Krause got married near Waterwood. Christian Curnel married Courtney Krause on Saturday evening, Nov. 4 in the woods on the property of Christian’s parents. I prepared and served chicken spaghetti, salad, rolls and homemade desserts for the rehearsal dinner Nov. 3 for about 40 people. The weather was perfect for the events the whole weekend. The reception consisted of a fajita dinner and music for dancing. Our little Case Karl Krause was the hit of the dance floor all evening. Christian is the oldest son of Josh and Brandy Curnel of Conroe and Courtney is the daughter of Brian Krause and the late Beth Krause of Cat Spring. The couple will make their home in College Station.
