I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day. This school year has gone by fast! Congratulations to all graduates. I hope all students have a safe and fun summer.

I’m sorry to announce the “Old Ship of Zion” play at St. Missionary Baptist Church in Magnolia is postponed until after the director’s daughter undergoes surgery. I will keep you updated once its rescheduled.

The church’s revival begins Wednesday, June 5, through Friday, June 7, with services at 7 p.m. nightly. Speaker Bishop Charles E. Richardson of Calvary 1st Baptist Church in Corpus Christi grew up in Old Washington, TX. Call Pastor Emery Berry, Jr. 713-377-2306 or Ever Johnson 936-894-2094 for more information. The church is located on FM 149 and 1488.

Congratulations to my granddaughter Aarya Showers on making honor roll for the entire school year. Congratulations to others who have also accomplished that great feat.

Plantersville Baptist Church is planning a roaring good time at vacation bible school Ju ne 24, 25, and 26, from 9 a.m. till noon. There will be crafts, stories, activities, music, games, videos, snacks and friends. All children ages 4-11 are invited to participate. Online registration is available. There will be an early registration day at the church June 17, from 10 a.m. until noon. The Longest Day Barbecue Cookoff and Country Market are seeking vendors for the event scheduled June 8, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. at Unity Park in Magnolia. A 10X10 space is $35 They would love to have arts, crafts, home canned items, cakes, candies, cookies, fresh fruits and vegetables, kettle corn, funnel cake, lemonade, sno cones or anything else.

A Freedom Festival will be held Saturday, July 6, from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. in historic Montgomery. There will be a parade, barbecue cookoff, baking contest as well as other events.
